The enormous drop in international travel brought on by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 had a similarly catastrophic impact on tourism’s profitability. In the United States, revenue from foreign tourists decreased from 178.1 billion to 63.7 billion euros. France did quite well, generating 28.5 billion euros in international tourist receipts in 2020, whereas several other nations witnessed a decline of about two thirds. The amount of tourist-related revenue from the prior year was little over half that amount.
The value of international tourist receipts by destination country for 2019 and 2020 is displayed in this infographic.
